Nesmori finds offers across many stores. Most are exactly what they look like. A few are not — a copied storefront on a new web address, a real site that has been hijacked, a price that is too good because nothing will ship. This page explains what we check, what our warnings mean, and what we do when we find a problem.
What we check
- How old the store’s web address is. Most established stores have had their address for years. An address registered weeks ago is worth a second look.
- Whether the seller is who it says it is.A seller using a well-known brand’s name on an address that brand doesn’t own is treated as impersonation.
- Whether the price makes sense. We compare an offer to what other stores charge for the same item. A price far below every other store, from a store that is the only one selling it, is a warning sign.
- Whether the checkout is where it should be.For stores that look new or unusual, we fetch the page ourselves and look for a checkout that has been redirected off the store’s own site.
- What you tell us.Every “Report a seller” is read by a person.
What a warning means
If we can’t verify a seller, we say so before you leave Nesmori, and we show you the facts we have: the address, how recently it was registered, the price compared to the usual price, and whether anyone else sells the item. Then you decide. A warning is not an accusation; some new stores are simply new. A seller we believe is fraudulent doesn’t appear at all.
What happens when we remove a seller
We take its listings off Nesmori, remove it from any saved items and price alerts, and, if you clicked through to it or had saved an item from it, we email you so you can check your card statements and watch for phishing. We also report the storefront to the companies hosting it.
What we can’t promise
These checks are automated and imperfect. They will miss some bad stores and occasionally flag a good one. Nesmori doesn’t sell anything itself; every purchase is on the store’s own site under its terms. If a store looks wrong to you, trust that and tell us.
Report a seller
Every product on Nesmori has a “Report a seller” link. Tell us what looked wrong; we review every report. You can also email hello@nesmori.com.
